5/6 M2 (teachers: Mrs Robyn Monks and Mr Rob Mullarvey)

Welcome to Grade 5/6. Students in these classes are taught by four experienced teachers throughout the week and we find that this is a good lead in to their transition to Secondary School. Students are always encouraged to strive for their personal best through many and varied activities, including individual, partner, small and large group settings. The two grade 5/6s liaise very closely completing the same curriculum, focusing on similar activities and outcomes.

 A healthy competitive rivalry exists between the two grades with various competitions run on a term by term basis. In term 1 we have a tables competition called ‘Maths Whiz.’  Term 2 is the eagerly awaited Spelling Whiz and Fun Run.  Term 3 we all put in a great effort with our skipping skills culminating in the endurance skip and an exhibition of various skipping routines to popular music. During term 4 the student’s general knowledge is tested with a group weekly quiz from which an individual weekly winner is announced. This competition concludes at the end of the term with weekly winners competing to find the overall General Knowledge champion. Students coming into grade five and six acknowledge these competitions as one of the things they look forward to when reaching the senior years of their primary schooling.
