Learning to LeadLearning to Lead program

Coldstream Primary School is proud to support Lilydale High School Students in their “Learning To Lead” Program. Selected Year Nine students are given the opportunity to improve their leadership skills whilst assisting staff and students with activities in and out of the classroom. The program runs for one afternoon over a period of nine weeks.
Here are some Learning To Lead student responses:

“At the High School we were all taught how to be a leader in a class called “Learning To Lead.” All of the students get together and talk about how to be a leader and the preparation needed to teach the children. Before coming to ColdstreamPrimary School I was worried and excited at the same time because it had been a long time since I was a student there. I now realize that it’s a great school to be at because of such a loving community.  I help teach with Miss Johnston in Indonesian with the Preps and the1/2’s. I really enjoy the classroom environment because the kids are so well behaved. I look forward to the further experience to be had at Coldstream Primary School.”

Learning to Lead program“Before ‘Learning To Lead’ commenced I was really honoured about being chosen to participate in such a rewarding program. On the first day I was nervous and excited to see what the day would bring and I was definitely not let down. I’ve been spending my time here with Miss McMenamin’s  Grade 1/2 class and I couldn’t be happier. They are a great bunch of kids and establishing my leadership skills with them has been the best experience. Coming to Coldstream every Thursday afternoon is definitely a highlight of my week.”

“Coming to Coldstream Primary and spending time with some of the 5/6’s has been a great experience so far. As part of our Learning To Lead Program I have been assisting Mrs Scattergood in her classes and having a ball along the way. I’ve been listening to them read with such enthusiasm, being there to lend a hand, helping on the computers and going back to the good old adding and subtracting. The children have been great in accepting me and have been so well behaved. I’m very grateful of being a part of this.”
