Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, discover new stories and develop a lifelong love of reading. Each year, children across Victoria take part by exploring a wide range of books and setting personal reading goals that inspire them to grow as readers.

Why the Challenge Matters
Reading is one of the most powerful skills a child can develop. It strengthens imagination, builds vocabulary and supports learning across every subject. The Challenge encourages students to read regularly, try new genres, and celebrate their progress along the way.

How It Works
Students choose books from the official reading list and record what they’ve read throughout the year in their personal challenge portal. Every book counts — picture books, chapter books, nonfiction, and more. When students reach their reading target, they complete the Challenge and receive recognition for their achievement.

  • Children in Prep - Grade 2 need to read 30 books to complete the challenge - 20 of which need to be challenge books from the official reading list.

  • Children in Grade 3 - 6 need to read 15 books to complete the challenge - 10 of which need to be challenge books from the official reading list.

Our School’s Commitment
We’re proud to support the Premier’s Reading Challenge and help our students discover the joy of reading. In our library, we have curated a selection of engaging, age‑appropriate books to make choosing a new book easy and exciting. Families are encouraged to join in by reading at home and celebrating each milestone.

Inspiring a Love of Reading
Our school motto “If you read, you will succeed” reminds students that every page turned is a step toward confidence, curiosity, and success. Whether they’re exploring adventures, learning new facts, or diving into imaginative worlds, every child can find a book that sparks joy.
